Gualtiero Passani born in Carrara in April 19, 1926 where he graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts at the School of Watercolor MasterClasses of Vienna, where he held a solo exhibition at Gallery of Modern Art - Ungarnasse .

In 1948 he founded the " Artistic Sodality of Fine Arts " , a movement which joined many painters and sculptors from Carrara .

In the early 50s Passani , watching with interest the greats of French painting , directs its inspiration from the impressionist painting north of the Alps .

In 1956 , the Art of Passani is important awards in the “Bollettino della Biennale di Venezia”.

In 1960 , then- President Giovanni Gronchi, fascinated by the originality of expression of the artist, buy some works for its collection .

While retaining , over many years of application , a proud autonomy , has had the opportunity to meet and deal with the likes of Arturo Dazzi , Moses Levy , Ardengo Soffici , Pablo Picasso and many others.

The works of Gualtiero Passani are present, among other things, the biblioteca civica of La Spezia, the Galleria d'Arte Moderna in Palazzo Pitti in Florence, the Italian Consulate in Vienna, in the Prints and Drawings Department of the University of Pisa, in many important public collections in Italy and abroad.
